Liquid Death gets sweet with Van Leeuwen collab

Another day, another unexpected collab! The viral water brand Liquid Death has teamed up with the specialty ice cream maker Van Leeuwen to create a limited-edition of hot fudge sundae-flavored sparkling water.

A classic case of opposites attracting

This latest partnership is a classic case of opposites attracting. Liquid Death is known for its edgy marketing and rebellious branding and has successfully positioned itself as a disruptor in the beverage industry. The brand has several flavored waters, both still and sparkling, and also makes iced tea and packets of Death Dust, a powdered hydration drink mix. Meanwhile, Van Leeuwen has cultivated a loyal following with its premium and innovative ice cream flavors.

First-of-its-kind collaboration for both brands

This new collab marks a new chapter for both Liquid Death and Van Leeuwen. While Van Leeuwen has a history of innovative partnerships, resulting in viral sensations like its ranch-flavored ice cream with Hidden Valley and its mac and cheese-flavored ice cream with Kraft, this venture into the beverage category is uncharted territory for the brand.

Meanwhile, Liquid Death has historically relied on stunt product marketing, like selling skateboards covered in paint mixed with Tony Hawk’s blood, and has never before teamed up with another company to create a new flavor.

A “chuggable” dessert experience.

The can of sparkling water tastes “just like a hot fudge sundae” according to Liquid Death, made with natural cocoa and vanilla flavors and lightly sweetened with agave and stevia. It is being billed as a “chuggable” dessert experience.

“We’re all about making healthy beverages more fun,” said Liquid Death’s vice-president of marketing Greg Fass in a statement. “So teaming up with Van Leeuwen Ice Cream to make the first chuggable, 20-calorie hot fudge sundae was the perfect pairing.”

The limited-edition sparkling water is available exclusively on Amazon, Liquid Death’s TikTok Shop, and at Van Leeuwen stores across the U.S. It is already sold-out on Liquid Death’s website.
