TikTok takes on popular messaging services by adding group chats
TikTok, the popular short-form video platform, is expanding its social features with the introduction of group chats and custom stickers to its platform. The new updates aim to enhance user interaction and create a more immersive experience for users to connect and share content with friends.
A more dynamic and interactive way to engage
TikTok users can now create groups chats of up to 32 people to watch, comment, and react to videos together in real time, explained TikTok in a statement. This feature allows for a more dynamic and interactive way to engage with friends and communities around shared interests.
To prioritize user safety, especially for younger users, TikTok has implemented several measures. Group chats are not available to users under the age of 15, and additional restrictions apply to users aged 16 and 17. These include limitations on who can join group chats and the ability for teens to review and approve new members.
Stickers for direct messages
In addition to group chats, TikTok is also rolling out custom stickers for direct messages. Users can now create and share their own unique stickers, adding a fun and creative element to their conversations.
With these new features, TikTok hopes to solidify its position as a go-to platform for entertainment and connection.
